Keeping Guests Happy

Deliver the ultimate day out

Giving your guests the best possible experience is at the heart of Planet Coaster 2. After all, what’s the point of building the greatest theme park or water park in the world, if no-one is there to enjoy it?

In this guide we’ll go into the detail of guest moods, afflictions they can pick up during their stay and tips for improving your guest’s experience.

Guest Moods

Guests will show their feelings about your park by displaying a variety of Moods. Keeping guests happy means catering to their needs and giving them lots of fun things to do in your theme park.

There are seven different moods which guests might experience while in your park:

  • Content – The base mood for guests entering and wandering around your park with all their needs met. When in this mood, guests will be happy to pay normal prices for rides and their tiredness will progress at the normal rate.
  • Happy – The guest has had a good time on a ride, eaten their preferred food, been entertained or had any other good experiences. When in this mood, guests luxury need will start to increase, and they’ll want to spend more time in your park.
  • Excited – The guest is queuing for their favourite ride, queuing for a ride with lots of theming or affected by a good entertainer performance. When in this mood, guests will see their luxury need increase and they’ll want to spend more time in your park.
  • Bored – The guest has been waiting a long time in queue with a low scenery rating or their excitement need has fallen too low. When bored a guest’s park fatigue will increase at a faster rate and they’ll leave your park sooner.
  • Uncomfortable – The guest has been soaked by water for too long, they’re surrounded by litter or they’ve spent time in dirty toilets. When uncomfortable a guest’s park fatigue will increase at a faster rate, and they’ll leave your park sooner.
  • Unhappy – The guest hasn’t had several of their needs met or the price of a ride changed as they were leaving it. When unhappy, guests will be less inclined to buy luxury goods and will leave your park sooner, and give it a poorer review.
  • Desperate – The guest has an extremely low need. When desperate a guest’s park fatigue will increase at the fastest possible rate, and they’ll quickly leave your park.

You can see a guest’s mood by inspecting them, using heatmaps or simply by looking at the way they behave as they move around your park. It’s hard to miss an unhappy guest!

Did You Know?

Guests will leave the park early if they cannot satisfy their Hunger, Thirst, and Toilet needs.
How-To Improve Guest Moods

Improving the mood of your guests can be straightforward, once you identify what’s making them unhappy!

  1. Open the Park Management menu and navigate to the Guests sub-menu.
  2. Review the Overall Mood rating and the Top Negative Thoughts. These will give you an idea of the most common complaints your guests have about your park.
    • Alternatively, inspect some of your guests to get a snapshot of individual needs. Try inspecting guests in different situations e.g. waiting for rides, leaving rides, buying food etc. Heatmaps will also highlight guests with positive or negative moods.
  3. Once you’ve identified the issue, now you need to address it! Make sure that you have enough facilities to meet guest needs, review your prices and improve your use of scenery around the park. For example, if you find lots of guests are unhappy about litter, build more bins and hire more janitors!

Ailments

Guests can pick up ailments during their stay in your park and it’s your job as a Park Manager to both limit these from happening and to help your guests recover.

Guests can develop the following ailments:

  • Sick – occurs when a guest’s Nausea gets too high and causes them to be sick! Prevent by alternating higher Nausea rides with lower Nausea and clean-up the vomit with a janitor.
  • Sunburnt – occurs when a guest has spent too long in the sun. Prevent by selling suncream and building shelter for your guests.
  • Panic – occurs when a guest is in a pool with low safety or if their Fear gets too high on a ride. Prevent by improving pool safety with lifeguards andlowering the Fear of your rides.

Did You Know?

Guests will leave the park early if they get sunburnt, so it’s important they have enough access to shelter and suncream!

Improving Guest Experience

Guests will score their experience in your park based on the moods and thoughts they've had since they arrived. Their score will constantly change as they experience new things, so even the grumpiest guest can have their score turned around if they have enough fun.

Guest Experience feeds into your Park Reputation, which directly affects your Park Rating. Your Park Rating in turn affects how many guests are attracted to your park, so a better experience will encourage more guests to choose your park for a day out!

These are a few quick tips for improving guest experience in Planet Coaster 2:

  • Have a good variety of attractions for your guests. Each guest will have a unique set of tolerances that you will have to cater to. The best approach is to make sure there’s something fun for everyone and to continue adding new attractions to your park to keep it fresh!
  • Make sure there are plenty of bathrooms and changing rooms throughout your park. Availability of bathrooms across your coaster park is pretty important. Place them in high traffic areas and near drink vendors so guests never get too desperate!
  • Splash out on a variety of food and drink vendors in your theme park. Your guests will have different dietary requirements and preferences that you’ll need to cater to. Having an abundance of options for them to choose from will definitely make guests happy!
  • Decorate your park with scenery. Give your guests something to look at while they wander around your park and wait in queues. Play with different themes and combinations to create an amusement park to remember.
  • Put on a show! Hire entertainers and create impressive sequences to help your guests have as much fun as possible while they explore your theme park creations.
